ARTservancy 2020 and Wild & Scenic Film Festival!

October 30, 2019  |  Topics: featured artist, Spotlight

The River Revitalization Foundation will host two artists in residence this year.

The annual Wild & Scenic Film Festival is Thursday, Nov. 7, at the Oriental Theater. Details below.

ARTservancy is back for another year.

ARTservancy 2019, a collaboration between Gallery 224 in Port Washington and the Ozaukee Washington Land Trust (OWLT), featured the work of twelve artists who each selected an OWLT preserve to engage with to create a body of artwork. The objective was to promote the visionary work of both the artists and OWLT and culminated in an exhibition at Gallery 224 in September.

ARTservancy 2020 is expanding into Milwaukee County as River Revitalization Foundation (RRF) joins Gallery 224 and OWLT.

RRF is sponsoring two artists in residence: Ceramic artist Glenda Puhek and photographer Eddee Daniel will focus on Turtle Park and the Milwaukee River Greenway!

As in 2019, The Natural Realm will feature each of the twelve new ARTservancy resident artists. Eddee Daniel, who is also Project Director for A Wealth of Nature and curator of The Natural Realm, will continue to meet with each of the twelve ARTservancy artists at their selected trust preserves. The blog posts introduce each artist’s work and provide insight into their yearlong creative journey to capture the beauty of the special places land trusts help to preserve and protect.

To revisit the ARTservancy 2019 artists in residence go to the Featured Artists index. For more information go to Gallery 224/ARTservancy.

The photos accompanying this announcement have been taken by Eddee in the past month as a sneak preview of his year in residence.

These organizations hope to use the festival to increase a better community understanding of the connection we share with the planet and our role as stewards to keep it healthy for the next generations.
