About
The Project
We are Preserve Our Parks and we believe that the Milwaukee metropolitan area of Southeastern Wisconsin has world-class natural features and exemplary parklands that need to be better publicized. We are committed to helping with that. A Wealth of Nature is a project to promote the enjoyment and preservation of nature in our region. For their mental, physical and spiritual well-being, people everywhere need opportunities to experience nature in their daily lives. Nearby nature is important to the health of individuals and communities. Our mission is to protect parks and natural areas for the enjoyment of the public today and in the future.
Project Components
The cornerstone of the project, this website is intended to introduce the public to the wealth of nature in Southeastern Wisconsin. Here you will find opportunities to enjoy nature, a forum for sharing stories, photos and ideas about nature and the parks, and information about how to preserve and protect them.
This website is a work in progress. Our intention is to include as many parks, preserves and other publicly accessible places to enjoy nature as possible. We are not there yet and will be adding to the site over time. We invite you to help by nominating places on our sharing page.
In addition to this website, the project includes a number of other initiatives:
- A traveling exhibit on banner stanchions, to be placed in office and residential lobbies, schools, libraries and civic centers. The banners are available to borrow. The exhibit is made up of 5 banners measuring 85” tall by 35” wide. If you have an appropriate place to display the banners and would like to borrow them, please contact us for further information.
- A slide program with images and text about Milwaukee area parks and wild places. The program is available for presentation in any appropriate setting. Project Director Eddee Daniel is also available for public speaking engagements. If you would like to book a slide program and/or public presentation please contact us for further information.
- A book of beautiful photographs and inspiring prose is in the works, to be titled A Wealth of Nature: Parks and Wild Places in Southeast Wisconsin. Advance orders are being taken. For more information contact us.
