At 30,000 acres, this is the largest unit of the Kettle Moraine State Forest. The glacial terrain includes wooded kettles, kames and eskers, as well as prairies, several lakes with three swimming beaches, and the East Branch of the Milwaukee River. There are over 125 miles of trails, including hiking, mountain biking, groomed cross country skiing, and the Ice Age National Scenic Trail. There are over 350 campsites, including family, group sites, equestrian and backpacking opportunities.

 

The State Forest extends north from Washington County into Fon du Lac and Sheboygan Counties. In addition to the Ice Age Trail, the Kettle Moraine Scenic Drive runs through it.

 

Other amenities include a Nature Center (along with the Ice Age Trail Visitor Center), the Parnell Observation Tower, concessions and rentals, picnic areas and shelters, and more.
