A fleet of kayaks in Lincoln Park

Photo Essay: Peddle to Paddle in Lincoln Park

The Milwaukee River in Lincoln Park was crowded with kayaks (and one canoe) on Saturday thanks to an event called “Peddle to Paddle.” Many of the paddlers had never been in a kayak before and many had never been to the Greenway. The event was organized by Nearby Nature MKE and cosponsored by Red Bike & Green MKE, Milwaukee Water Commons, and Northwest Side CDC. For a change, I didn’t paddle myself. But I trotted along the riverbank as the fleet circumnavigated the island in Lincoln Park and I offer you these images–along with a couple that my friend Steve Bell took with his drone.

The Peddle to Paddlers were not the only kayakers on the river. Here is a passerby with two furry passengers.
