Silver Lake County Park in Salem
260-acres of rolling, wooded landscape fronting on 516-acre Silver Lake in Kenosha County. Double-track trails for hiking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing. Swimming beach with lifeguards on duty in season.
10 miles of single-track mountain bike trails specifically groomed and maintained for winter fat tire biking. The trails are open year-round, weather conditions permitting. Hotline to check the daily status: 262-857-1876. People are asked to check on conditions before going to the trails.
Non-motorized boats can be launched from the park. There is a Silver Lake public boat launch off of N. Cogswell Dr., west of the park. While there is a trail connecting the park with the boat launch, in order to reach it with a vehicle one must drive around the lake. Fish include Musky, Panfish, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Northern Pike, Walleye and Catfish.
Amenities include 18-hold disc golf course, sledding hill, concession stand, windsurfing launch, ice-fishing access, volleyball, soccer fields, playground and shelter (available to rent).
Seasonal entry fees in effect: $5.00 per car for Kenosha County Residents, and $10 per car for Non-Residents.
