River Bend Nature Center in Racine
Its 78 acres are owned by Racine County and operated in a public/private partnership by River Bend Nature Center, Inc., whose mission is outdoor recreation and environmental education. Two activity buildings and miles of hiking trails, winding through varied terrain, provide a very accessible and comfortable setting for novices or experienced outdoors people. The center is comprised of almost 4,000 feet of Root River frontage, river-bottom land, prairie, ponds, and uplands hardwoods. Most species of birds and animals native to southeast Wisconsin can be found on the property.
Canoes and kayaks can be rented for use on the adjacent Root River.
