Pewaukee River Greenway in Pewaukee
This 221-acre Waukesha County property is an unimproved conservation area. The majority of the preserve, which follows the Pewaukee River, is wetlands. Rudimentary trails provide some access to the drier portions. The unmarked trails make for a nice hike if you like solitude and don’t mind a little bushwhacking now and then. But don’t attempt it if you don’t have a good sense of direction. It’s easiest in winter. Hunting, in season, is allowed; bow hunting only in some sections, gun and bow hunting in others. For complete hunting rules and regulations go to the Waukesha County website.
The entrance to the Greenway, which is unmarked, is directly across Hwy JJ from the Bluemound Rd entrance to Waukesha County Technical College and exit 188 from Hwy 16.
Unlike most Waukesha County Parks, there is no entry fee.
