North Beach in Racine
This 50-acre city park and award-winning beach with 2,500 feet of Lake Michigan shoreline is immediately north of downtown Racine. Certified as a Blue Wave clean beach, it also hasĀ a Mobi Mat, a non-slip ADA-approved mat that allows wheelchair access to the beach.
At the north and south ends of the beach are restored dunes and swales that provide habitat, improve water quality, and protect the beach from erosion. Boardwalks and informative signage enable visitors to enjoy this fragile ecosystem without causing damage to it. (More information.)
Amenities include a bathhouse with restrooms, picnic area, volleyball courts, the Kids Cove playground, and a snack bar. Lifeguards on duty mid-June through Labor Day. Free Parking.
North Beach is adjacent to Zoo Beach and is on the Lake Michigan Pathway, a 13.5-mile paved bike trail.
