Mequon Nature Preserve in Mequon
444 acres of woodlands, wetlands, prairies and open fields with over five miles of trails and a 40-foot observation tower that are open to the public, free of charge, 365 days a year from sunrise to sunset. Formerly farmland, the preserve is being restored to natural conditions typical of pre-settlement times.
The PieperPower Education Center includes a 12,000 sq. ft. multi-use classroom and conference facility. It provides a comprehensive outdoor science program to 5,000 K-12 students annually as well as environmental science programs to the general public.
Identified by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology as an ebird hotspot with 184 species recorded.
The preserve includes a working farm and community gardens.
