McGovern Park in Milwaukee

Champion chinquapin oak, largest in Wisconsin
A portion of this 61-acre park is a remnant beech-maple hardwood forest with meandering hiking trails and one of the best displays of ephemeral spring flowers in the Milwaukee County Park System. A 4-acre lake is popular for fishing and is seasonally stocked with panfish, largemouth bass, and trout. The Champion chinquapin oak, the largest of its species in Wisconsin, is located in the southwest corner of the park.
It is a stop on the Forked Aster Trail System.
Identified by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology eBird.org program as a birding hotspot with 128 species observed to date.
Park amenities include a very active and popular senior center, several athletic fields and courts, reservable picnic areas, and restrooms.
