A 231-acre preserve on the north shore of Geneva Lake, in Williams Bay. Named after a Native American term for “clear sparkling water,” the now-conserved property on which Kishwauketoe is located is well underway to being restored to the near-original state when indigenous peoples utilized the site for living, hunting and fishing.

While a significant portion of the 231 acres is wetland, a variety of other ecosystems are present including prairie, meadow, fen, marsh, deciduous forest, oak opening, kettles and two creeks. Seven acres are fenced as an official arboretum, but the entire property is accredited as a Level 1 Arboretum.

Several miles of trails wind throughout the conservancy, including one that is ADA accessible. An observation tower overlooks the prairie. The area provides habitat for a wide variety of wildlife, with bald eagles and river otters among the animals seen on the property.

The main entrance on Hwy 67 is well marked but has no parking. However, parking is available across from the main entrance in the parking lot for the Village of Williams Bay’s Lions Fieldhouse, 310 Elkhorn Road (Hwy 67).

Kishwauketoe has no restrooms. Public restrooms are available at the west end of the Williams Bay’s Lions Fieldhouse at the parking lot. There is a picnic shelter at the main entrance. No other amenities.

Hours of Operation: Daily, dawn to dusk.
