Jacobus Park in Wauwatosa
26-acre Milwaukee County park with a mile-long nature trail, which has been designated as a National Recreation Trail as well as a segment of the County’s Forked Aster Trail system. The terrain includes a dramatic bluff, ravine, and a small lily-covered lagoon. Home to several rare plant species as well as many old growth oaks and maples. The park is especially colorful in spring when the ephemeral flowers are in bloom and in fall when autumn paints the tree canopy red, orange and gold.
The park is adjacent to Honey Creek Parkway and a scenic stretch of the Menomonee River. The Oak Leaf Trail runs along the Parkway road.
A park pavilion overlooking the lagoon is rentable; two picnic areas are reservable. Other amenities include a wading pool, athletic field, playground, restrooms (available seasonally), and a port-a-potty.
