Highland Woods in Mequon
Activities: Birding, Hiking, Picnicking
Filter:
85-acre City of Mequon nature preserve. As the name implies, it is mostly woodland, although one large corner of the property is an open field. A network of loop trails weaves through it all. Ongoing efforts to eradicate invasive buckthorn has left contrasting areas with dense undergrowth and cleared undergrowth. Managed as a passive use nature and educational study area. In places along the woodland trail the decaying ruins of cages once used for fox farming can still be seen.
There are no amenites on the property. Leashed pets are welcome.
For more information go to the City of Mequon website.
