Frontier Park, Butler in Butler

 

Located behind an industrial park, this is a surprising gem along the Menomonee River. A substantial portion of the park, near its two entrances, is devoted to sports, including three diamonds, two basketball courts, one tennis court, and four horseshoe pits.

Away from the athletic facilities, a trail runs along the river. A short section of it is wide and mulched, creating a loop around the diamonds. A narrow dirt trail continues upstream along the river for about half a mile. It’s an easy walk and scenic, sheltered below river bluffs all around.

 

The Village of Butler Community Building, which can be rented, is located at the 127th Street entrance.

Open Daily, no admission fee.
