Donges Bay Gorge Natural Area in Mequon
A 23-acre preserve located along Lake Michigan in the city of Mequon. This preserve contains an undulating upland lake bluff, upland woods and a ravine that extends along one side of the property. Owned and managed by Ozaukee Washington Land Trust, which is restoring historically and regionally scarce vegetation communities to both increase biodiversity and improve wildlife habitat to greater support the Lake Michigan Migratory Flyway. A lovely woodland trail runs along the top of the gorge. The trail ends at the bluff, which is steep and dangerous. There is no access to the lakeshore. The parking lot here is small (but usually empty). There is no parking allowed on the neighborhood street, Wildwood Court (strictly enforced).
For more information go to the Ozaukee Washington Land Trust website.
