Blue Heron is a 92-acre wildlife sanctuary, which was once a farm, that has been dedicated to protecting native wildlife and vegetation. The property is on the west bank of the Milwaukee River, contains a pond and a number of streams, and is open to the public during daylight hours. There is an extensive trail system, a boardwalk to the pond, and an observation deck. The trails are open for snowshoeing or cross-country skiing in the winter.
The only amenities are picnic benches and a portable toilet.
